NCCT Medical Assistant Exam Overview
The NCCT medical assistant exam is a 150 question exam with a 3 hour time limit.
25 of the 150 questions will be unscored pretest questions. 92% of the exam will be multiple-choice questions while the other 8% will be alternative questions (drag and drop, hotspot, etc..).
The topics on the NCCT NCMA test are as follows:

- Infection, Exposure Control, and Safety: 15 Questions
- Patient Intake and Care: 32 Questions

Am I Eligible to Take the NCCT Medical Assistant Exam?
All people hoping to take the NCMA test must have a high school diploma or an equivalent degree (such as a GED). Then, you can qualify by meeting one of the following three requirements:
- Be a recent graduate (no more than 12 months) or a completing student (no more than 30 days from graduating) from an Accrediting Bureau of Health Education Schools (ABHES) or Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP) program
- Have a minimum of 5 years of experience as a practicing medical assistant
- Complete the equivalent medical training from the United States military
Does the NCCT Medical Assistant Exam Cost Money?
No matter which route you take to become eligible to take the exam, the cost to take the NCCT medical assistant exam is $119.
How is the NCCT Medical Assistant Exam Scored?
The scaled score needed to pass the NCCT medical assistant exam is 70. Upon completing the exam, you will get a passing or failing notification, but that doesn’t mean you are certified.
If you meet all the application requirements, you will receive notice of your certification within three months of testing.
